Pulse Health LLC was formed two years ago to investigate new opportunities to market unique health and wellness products. The company obtained the exclusive license from a nineteen year-old research and development firm, Akers Biosciences (Pulse Labs), to market a next-generation device to measure free radical levels.

Pulse Labs owns six patented technologies for the testing of a variety of conditions and chemical readings, including glucose, cholesterol, drug abuse, alcohol breathalyzer, and bio-agent detection. Through a joint venture with Pulse Health, came the creation of FRED.

Pulse Management Team

Chris Marsh, President & Chief Executive Officer
Chris serves as the company's president and CEO, having joined Pulse Health in early 2008. Prior to Pulse, Chris served as President of the Talent Management Division of Kronos Inc. Kronos acquired Unicru in August 2006. At that time, Chris was Unicru's CEO, where he grew the company from 70 to 280 employees. Prior to Unicru, Chris was the EVP of E*Trade, the leading online financial brokerage firm and independent provider of ATMs. He was CFO and COO at Card Capture Services (CCS), which was purchased by E*Trade in 2000. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Auctionpay, Healthnotes, Inc. and Hubcast, Inc.

David Urman, Founder & Chief Marketing Officer
David is responsible for strategy, corporate direction, marketing leadership and growth of the business. He founded Beanstalk Partners in 1995 as a consultant to the direct selling industry. Prior to that time, he was a partner in the law firm of Ball Janik in Portland, where he practiced business and corporate law.

David Chernoff, MD, Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Chernoff combines the perspective of a practicing clinician with decades of biopharma industry experience. His medical focus has centered around infectious diseases, with a concentration on AIDS research, and he received the National AIDS Caregiver Award from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation for his role in the development of viral load assays used to monitor disease progression and response to therapy in AIDS patients. He spent two years as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence and one year as an operating partner at the venture firm TPG, where he was actively involved in due diligence and in incubating new companies.

John Dettra, Chief Financial Officer
John is responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations. He was previously VP of Finance & Administration for Unicru Inc., which grew from $14 million to $50 million in revenue during his tenure before being acquired by Kronos, Inc. for $150 million in 2006. Before Unicru, John was assistant controller for CCS/E*Trade Access. CCS was purchased by E*Trade for $90 million in 2000.

Wes Spiegel, Founder & VP Sales
Wes oversees business development efforts for Pulse, and manages the company's sales process. Since 2000, Wes has been the managing partner of Beanstalk Technology. Prior to that time, he was Vice President of Marketing for a major nutritional company for ten years, and served as the co-founder of a media buying firm.

Diana Stepleton, VP Operations
Diana is responsible for Pulse's operations and infrastructure. Prior to Pulse, Diana served as co-owner and CFO of Research Data Design, an Inc. 500 company that grew to $10 million in sales. Before that she was a National Account Manager for AT&T/Lucent - spending a total of nine years with the company. Diana has an MBA from the University of Montana.

Medical Advisors

David Chernoff, MD, Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Chernoff combines the perspective of a practicing clinician with decades of biopharma industry experience. As Medical Director of Research and Development at Chiron Diagnostics, he played a pivotal role in the development of assays for HIV, HCV, HBV, and CMV. At Elan Pharmaceutical Management Corporation he served as VP of Corporate Technology, where he led the evaluation of a broad range of in-licensing opportunities. He heads the Pulse Health Science Advisory Board and serves as the company's Chief Medical Officer.

Raymond Akers, PHD, CEO, Akers Biosciences
Dr. Akers is a leading inventor of diagnostic tools, including rapid testing for cholesterol, DNA and alcohol. His company has been selected by major pharmaceuticals, such as Pfizer, to create their diagnostics.

Peter Barnes, PhD, National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College of London
Dr. Barnes has done extensive study on Exhaled Breath Condensate is a members of the EBC Taskforce. Dr. Barnes holds patents in the UK for methods of diagnosing, monitoring, and treating pulmonary disease. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2007, and is the first respiratory researcher to be elected to that post in more than 150 years.

Garry Buettner, PhD, Professor University of Iowa
Dr. Buettner has more than 20 years of experience with nearly all aspects of CW-EPR, or continuous wave EPR spectroscopy. He is considered a national leader in free radical chemistry.

Massimo Corradi, MD, University of Parma, Italy
Dr. Corradi is recognized as the world leader in analyzed aldehydes in breath, and is considered the world leader in research on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He is the foremost expert in this area on the international Exhaled Breath Condensate (EBC) Taskforce.

Ruthie Harper, MD, Founder, Nutritional Medicine Associates
Dr, Harper is a top expert in the formulation of scientifically proven nutritional compounds.

Dr. John Hunt, MD, University of Virginia
Dr. Hunt conducts a clinical practice focused on allergy, immunology, and pulmonology - primarily among children. Dr. Hunt's research on pediatric lung disease has led to the development of several award-winning inventions that can be used to diagnose and monitor asthma and other lung diseases in simple, accurate and noninvasive ways.

Steven Mastin, PhD
Dr. Mastin is a leading expert in the development and science behind advanced diagnostics, as well as intellectual property protection associated with such development. He has developed numerous clinical assays, including a widely accepted free radical test.
